Children are invited to join this advanced beginner tennis class taught by Tennis Pro Kim Champion. In this tennis class, students continue to develop their coordination skills and work more on refining their groundstrokes. They learn ready position, change of grips and practice on proper preparation for groundstrokes and consistency hitting. In addition, students are introduced to the Forehand and Backhand Volleys and the Serve. Safety procedures and rules are emphasized throughout the class.
Kim Champion describes herself as a traditionalist. In teaching students the game of tennis, Ms. Champion believes there are 3 key points:
1- Core Footwork
2- Repetition
3- Fun (Teachers must make the learning process fun.)
BPCPC’s Community Center at Stuyvesant High School offers this class in a gymnasium where the weather is always pleasant. Please note: children need to bring their own racquet. Balls are provided.
