Everyone can enjoy a game of badminton at the Community Center at Stuyvesant High School each Thursday from 7pm-9:30pm or Sundays from 1pm-5:30pm. With one singles court and two doubles courts there’s plenty of room for everyone. Rackets and birdies provided. Free for full CCSHS members and Gym-Only members. $15 for Adult non-members. $10 for Seniors/Youth/Student non-members.

Holiday Lights
Be merry and bright and join the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy for an evening of seasonal cheer at the annual Holiday Lights Tree Lighting! An outdoor Menorah will be lit at sundown on Sunday, December 6th.
The a cappella group The Accidentals will perform seasonal songs and encourage the audience to sing along.
Complimentary holiday cookies will be served, as well as hot cider and hot chocolate. A special visitor from the North Pole will also join the festivities…
Share the joy! Please join others in bringing a new unwrapped gift or article of clothing for children and teens living in NYC shelters.
Gifts will be wrapped and distributed by Stockings with Care.
Stories for All Ages
Grab a spot in Teardrop Park and listen as Rita Auerbach tells slightly shivery stories of witches and ghosts as well as a pumpkin tale or two. The stories draw on myths and traditions from around the world, and will include “Baba Yaga,” “Barney MCCabe” and “Let’s Go on a Ghost Hunt.”
Storytelling is humankind’s oldest art form, and ghost stories are perhaps its most celebrated genre. The fall foliage and dramatic rockscapes of Teardrop Park will provide a lovely setting for story lovers of all ages.
Rita Auerbach tells stories at the Connecticut Storytelling Festival, the American Museum of Natural History, Scandinavia House, the Hans Christian Andersen Statue in Central Park, and bookstores and libraries throughout the metropolitan area. She is the recipient of the 2015 Coleen Salley Storytelling Award Committee. As a librarian, she chaired the 2010 Caldecott Committee and currently serves on the Bank Street Children’s Book Committee and the Ezra Jack Keats Award Committee which honors new authors and illustrators of picture books.
Play at the Park House
Drop by the Rockefeller Park House and have fun playing in the park! Adults and children can borrow toys and play equipment to use free of charge. Smaller kids can let their imaginations go wild with the play kitchen and pretend food or invent a game with hula hoops, bouncy balls and blocks. There are many fun kids’ books available for those who wish to sit on the grass and enjoy a quiet read. Older children, teens and adults can play billiards, Ping-Pong, Chess or Scrabble. Stop in and challenge your friends to a game of knock-hockey, basketball, Ping-Pong or pool!
Bird Watching
The parks of Battery Park City provide a habitat for many types of birds and feature excellent spots for both the casual visitor to catch a glimpse of wildlife and for more serious Birdwatchers to add to their life lists. Join a birder/naturalist to explore the parks and to experience the varieties of wildlife that live hidden in plain view. Novice birders welcome. Binoculars and field guides available.
