Eastern Idaho boasts a wide range of cutting-edge healthcare services. Over the last two decades, healthcare professions in Eastern Idaho have grown by 230%. There are 86 healthcare facilities in Eastern Idaho with 6,000 employees. Eastern Idaho is home to 2,400 medical providers. In 2019, EIRMC opened a new Burn Center - the only Burn Center in the State of Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota, caring for people with critical injuries.

Eastern Idaho is an epicenter for research, medicine, and medical providers making healthcare one of the most sustainable clusters in Eastern Idaho. With Idaho State University's College of Health and College of Pharmacy accredited programs and hands-on educational training of students, these programs are highly regarded by our regional employers and students become prominent leaders in their fields.

Also, the College of Eastern Idaho's Health Professional Division combines a group of programs consisting of Certified Nursing Assistant, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting, Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, and Surgical Technology. These programs provide students with the knowledge and skills that enable them to join other professions in this expanding career field and provide employers with well-trained medical professionals.

Three institutions of higher learning; Idaho State University, Brigham Young University-Idaho and the College of Eastern Idaho, provide research and talent to support Eastern Idaho’s growing healthcare system. All three institutions offer top degrees in Health Science and Nursing through state-of-the-art simulation labs, top faculty and industry experts, and hands-on classrooms that provide real-world real-time learning experiences.

The Eastern Idaho Healthcare Sector remains in the top for producing cutting-edge technologies, state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and new procedures and processes in order to deliver first-class health services to Eastern Idaho.

 

  • East Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC) is the largest medical facility in the region. It is a Joint Commission-accredited full-service hospital.  It serves as the region’s healthcare hub, with specialties in cardiovascular surgery, leading-edge cancer treatment, neurosurgery, intensive care for people of all ages, and a helicopter and ground medical rescue service.
  • Portneuf Medical Center is a general medical and surgical hospital. Regionally ranked as the 4th best hospital, the Portneuf Medical Center specializes in gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.
  • Idaho Cancer Center contains oncology experts and state-of-the-art equipment to help patients. The Center specializes in inpatient and outpatient radiation therapy with the advanced TrueBeam Linear Accelerator, brachytherapy, inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy, surgical services, diagnostic radiology, nuclear imaging for diagnosis and treatment, and pathology.
  • Portneuf Cancer Center has medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion therapy, social work, and cancer nutritionists all in one building in order for patients to be able to stay at home during their treatments.
  • Melaleuca for more than 35-years, Melaleuca has become known for their innovative and natural formulas and products.  Melaleuca offers over 400 products - from nutritional, pharmaceutical, personal and facial care products to home, hygiene, and other wellness products that are distributed directly to the consumer through a full-service catalog and internet shopping system.  Melaleuca’s corporate headquarters is located in Idaho Falls, Idaho.  Melaleuca has manufacturing and distribution facilities in both Idaho Falls, Idaho and Knoxville, Tennessee.
  • Bingham Memorial Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital. Bingham Memorial offers a care, emergency care, general surgery, orthopedics, dermatology, family practice, obstetrics and nursery, gynecology, pain management, internal medicine, and pediatrics.  Bingham Memorial also offers a full range of outpatient services.
  • Madison Memorial Hospital – is a general medical and surgical hospital. They specialize in COPD, heart failure, and hip and knee replacements.
