Children are invited to join this introduction to tennis class series taught by Tennis Pro Kim Champion. Students learn and practice the basic fundamentals such as correct footwork, racket and ball handling skill drills, and activities to develop hand-eye and racket coordination.  In addition, students learn the two (2) basic groundstrokes (Forehand and Two Handed Backhand) and practice a variety of drills and lead up games.  Safety procedures and rules are emphasized throughout the class.

Kim Champion describes herself as a traditionalist. She believes that in teaching students the game of tennis there are 3 keys:
1- Core Footwork
2- Repetition
3- Fun (Teachers must make the learning process fun.)

BPCPC’s Community Center at Stuyvesant High School offers this class in a gymnasium where the weather is always pleasant. The series is five sessions. Please note: children need to bring their own raquet. Balls are provided. Call 646-210-4292 to register.
